my first child got into his terrible twos only after a few months after he turned two. that's why when i had my second, i didn't expect her to be in her terrible two stage this early. she's been throwing tantrums lately, especially when she is sleepy or hungry. the worst part is when we are in a shopping mall and she's feeling so tired she becomes very fussy. last sunday, i forgot to put her sandals on before getting down the car. i only realized she didn't have her shoes on when we were already inside the mall. i decided to just buy slippers for her. mothercare was just around the corner so we went inside and looked for slippers. but she saw what she liked. the boots! oh my gosh. it's not even a stylish boots. it's a pair of boots for raining time! we didn't want to buy it.. but she insisted. she screamed, she kicked, she cried just so we buy the boots for her. that scene never happened before in her entire life. (well, she's only 1 year and 10 months old.) so we were taken aback. i checked the price of the boots and good thing it was on sale. it's not very expensive. so we gave in. that was really sad, knowing that we let her win because she was throwing tantrums. so tell me... was i wrong in buying her this pair of boots? i was just going to buy a simple pair of slippers. on the other note, i have read somewhere that we let kids decide which ones they like from time to time. arrgghh... parenting is indeed the hardest job one can have. we all need God's wisdom in doing so.
Even if I have my own child, I also wouldn't know the answer. I mean everyone will be looking at you at the mall when your kids throws tantrums. It's hard really... I agree on asking for God's wisdom.
Hi Jan, things can get really wild at this stage of parenting..I can identify with you, my little Rinnah (who's about the same age as Sam) does the same too. And not only that, she's into hitting nowadays, her elder sister is her plain victim. so we have to instill discipline now, she either gets a smack in the butt or isolate her in the corner..
