The Real Twelve (12) Days of Christmas and Advent

So.. when does the season of Advent begin?

The season of Advent begins on the fourth Sunday before Christmas, and for nearly a month Christians await the coming of Christ in a spirit of expectation, singing hymns of longing. Then, on December 25, Christmas Day itself ushers in twelve days of celebration, ending only on January 6 with the feast of the Epiphany. Exhortations to follow this calendar rather than the secular one have become routine at this time of year. But often the focus falls on giving Advent its due, with the Twelve Days of Christmas relegated to the words of a cryptic traditional carol. Most people are simply too tired after Christmas Day to do much celebrating.

So on the 25th Day of December starts the first day of Christmas. Not on the 1st of December. I got a bit confused with the dates as to when and how last year. Putting up the advent calendar on the 1st day of December was right after all. So 4 days more to go and our Advent Calendar and Christmas tree will be up.

i just took out my juicer. it has been in the cupboard for 3 years. we got it from the real rewards. peter has accumulated points that entitled us to get something. we chose the juicer. i only used it once and i kept it in the cupboard. but last week, i took it out. i prepared it for the dinner we had for our wedding anniversary. i prepared some celery, carrots, green apple and red apple. celery juice was a hit for me. i tried searching about the benefits of celery juice and i found out that celery juice with honey can suppress the appetite, especially taken right before meal time. this is a great news for me as my appetite has been so big these days.i actually had been searching for some fat burners and found Anoretix. hehehe. not sure whether i wanna use it or just drink celery juice. hmmm...

buying gifts

last weekend, we spent time shopping some small gifts for my two sisters-in-law. my other sister-in-law's birthday was a day before our wedding anniversary and the other one's birthday is tomorrow. we actually did a 4-in-1 celebration. buying gifts was fun. the only thing was... with two kids in the tow, it's quite a challenge. we went to marks and spencers at sunway pyramid. two kids were running around. tried to stop them... but they were wild. i think the saleslady there... she's quite young... i think she was a bit upset that the shop became very noisy with my kids laughing and playing around. she put up a straight face. well... i was gonna ask who the manager was and ask him what's wrong with the malay girl. the other lady at the counter was wrapping the things we bought and she was poking the wrapped gifts. so i went to the counter and stayed there so she would stop doing it. glad she stopped. anyways, sometimes buying online is better. heard that one can always find a best buy at www.buy.com

beauty tips

I have been buying Women's Weekly Magazine. It's very cheap so it's okay to buy. I love the beauty tips section where they feature a celebrity with their beauty treatments. Of course, there's always these acne treatment products being featured. Sometimes, I'm not very interested with that. I am interested in how celebrities take care of their skin. Some won't admit they do something. But a lot of them would definitely give out some secrets. Anyways, this just reminds me to buy the latest copy. The one I have was one month ago issue with Daphne Iking on the cover. I wonder who's next though.

Time To Change

Indeed, it's time to change our kitchen faucets. Or maybe just the valves. It's quite loose now and hubby has been fixing it now and then. But it's still leaking. There's so much water wasted. I actually found some nice kitchen faucets at www.faucet.com. I like the designs and some are even sleek... like the one in the image. I took this image from their website.

Just wanna quote from the website's description: Kitchen Faucets were once a simple necessity. Now you can get faucets to match any style and decor in an array of finishes and layouts. There are new designs and technologies that can help make your kitchen more cook friendly, while also contributing to your overall kitchen style. You might wanna check them out too if you're also looking for a change in your kitchen faucets.

My House, My Home

I had been spending a lot of time cleaning up the house now. Since the start of October, we've been having parties at home. We have two more parties coming up before December. And no, we don't celebrate Thanksgiving. It's just a celebration for my and hubby's 5th wedding anniversary and my girls 2nd birthday. Year-end season is no joke for us as we get too busy with parties. But I love parties. Last week, we hosted a party for my husband's culmination program for his Bible Class this year. They had it in our house. It was a pot bless (or luck) actually so I didn't do all the cooking myself. But really spent time making our house cozy... You know when your house is cozy, it's an equal to the term a home. There's nothing like making your house a home. I actually took out our bamboo blinds and just use curtain. Now the house looks softer with the yellow curtains.

Home Safety

Okay. I will be diverting my topic now from health to house safety. Having children around the house is not very easy. you have to make sure everything is children proof or children friendly. My boy is very cautious so it's not a problem having him playing around without supervision sometimes. But my girl... she's very adventurous. She would try her hands at practically everything. She wants to touch this and that, jump here and there, run around the house, etc. I always make sure that my kitchen is safe... meaning no knives or box cutter, or any sharp objects that's lying around. I know it's good for her to learn from her experience but when it comes to safety, we just can't afford for her to learn the painful and dangerous way.

Enough!

My last two posts are all about gaining weight and how to loose that weight. I hope I am not tiring you with my endless rants on me needing a serious dieting. With holiday season coming, and with all the parties we're having at home nowadays, it's a challenge not to join the party and eat. What with all those yummylicious food, one will really have a hard time refusing them. Well, at least, for me... I have a hard time saying no to food. My appetite has increased a lot since I weaned my girl off from nursing. I know that I need to start exercising. But that will be another challenge: to find time to exercise. So probably, the best thing to do is pop in some Phentermine? Not really sure. Maybe, I'll start with my challenge to loose weight by cutting down my food intake. I think it's the better way. And stop complaining about my weight. Enough is enough.

Christmas is Coming

Christmas is just around the corner. I can see malls putting up Christmas decorations already. Sunway Pyramid, for one, has already put up their Christmas decorations. The Egyptian inspired building is loaded with Christmas lights now. You know what Christmas means? It means food, party, more food, more party. And it also means more pounds to carry. Now that I am not nursing my girl anymore, maybe i can take one of those Leptovox already. Then I can eat more during the Christmas holiday season.

Food, Food, and More Food

It's amazing how we complain of gaining weight sometimes and yet we keep on eating and eating. I have been complaining of my weight since I gave birth to my first child. It has never stopped ever since. Why? Because I never stop eating! Sometimes it's hard to loose weight, especially when you're the "chef" in your house. And of course, it's hard to loose weight when we keep eating out. But I think the greatest factor is unhealthy lifestyle (I can hear a lot of "amens" now). So we tend to gain and gain more weight. The next thing we know, we succumb to the easiest way: diet pill. Why not when it's easy to loose weight that way? Well, would you or wouldn't you take it?

A friend forwarded an email to me, containing a message that says there's going to be a las vegas nv soon to rise in the Philippines. The name would be Bagong Nayong Pilipino-Manila Bay Integrated City. Hmmm.. I have seen the Master Plan and it's quite a huge project. It says that once this project is operational, it will create more than 250,000 jobs for local workers, for Filipinos, which means it will be the biggest generating project of the Philippine government. This project is a massive, fully integrated entertainment and leisure complex offering wholesome fun, thrill and excitement for people of all ages.

It has been a while since I haven't gone to Ikea. The last time was when we went shopping for Schenker's birthday. Just grabbed some things for house decos and some stuff (you can even buy plants in Ikea!) for his birthday. I love going to Ikea. They always come up with discount furniture, especially in the months of August and December. Looking forward to visiting Ikea again.Actually, when you're in Ikea area and you want to do grocery shopping, you just walk further and it will take you to Ikano where they have Cold Storage as well. I like grocery shopping at Cold Storage because the shelves and stuffs are well organized.

Dinner at Bangsar Seafood Restaurant

We went for a Chinese seafood dinner at Bangsar Seafood Restaurant. I was surprised to see the place was huge for a restaurant. You can actually do some functions there, too. One thing that impressed me also was the bathroom. It has glass sinks. When I saw this, I started looking for a tankless water heater. It must be a silly idea... but just wanna see whether they have one. I didn't see any. I took a lot of photos that night. Just sorry that I actually didn't take photo of the food. Actually, when hubby saw this photo, he laughed at me and said... you took photos of the bathroom too? LOL. That's how serious I am with photography, I think.
