Hello, welcome to our last edition of Yummy Sunday. The last food I ate when we were in China... spaghetti Chinese style. It was very good.

I have been thinking about this recently because I found there's a few food memes existing already. So I thought it's best not to duplicate food memes. Also, I haven't been regular in visiting entries. So I thought it's not right for me to continue if I can't be responsible.

If you wanna host this meme instead, please let me know. And if you still wanna showcase you food photos, this is the list of food memes I found:

I hope you enjoyed our Yummy Sunday meme... as much as I did. Thank you all for joining and see you (if you're joining those other memes, that is) around!

Facebook, Why Do I Love Thee?

I love facebook. I plead guilty of ending up in facebook when I'm online... and I'm online most of the time. I love the fact that I can get my friends' update. It's the second best thing in the internet. Of course, paid blogging comes first. Who wouldn't disagree?

I love the fact that I can do fun things in facebook, take quizzes and compare results with friends who love taking quizzes as well.

I love the fact that it reconnects long lost friends. I have friends whom I haven't seen for more than 20 years and suddenly asking my permission to be added on my friends' list.

But of course, I love internet as a whole. Too many things to do, too little time. It's a good thing that hubby is not around. I can spend more time searching and surfing the net. Sky's the limit, they say which I believe of course. You can search for just about anything. i.e., insurance online, investment, education, and tips on setting up whatever you wanna set up. Like I said, sky's the limit. When hubby's around of course, I have to limit my time with the computer.

I wanna say again, though... my favorite past time in the internet is to log in to my facebook and blogging.

Kitchen Stuff

All of the rooms in the house are very important and have its functions. But the kitchen has a special place in my heart. It is where I prepare food to nourish my family. That's why it's no wonder that the first thing I have prepared in our new house was the kitchen.

When I thought we were going to move on Monday this week, I have packed some things from the kitchen that included box cutter, dining set, all the plastic cups, spoons, forks, plates for kids that I got from Ikea, the condiments, and even the canned goods and took them to the new house. The new house, by the way is just 6 houses away from the house we are staying at now. So I'd been walking back and forth to get some of our stuff to the new house.

It's a good thing though that I left some kitchen stuff here... otherwise, I have to go back there again to get the things needed when I cook.

My apologies for putting up the image late. The family has been busy preparing to move house. This is one of the dishes we ordered when we were in China. Didn't know the name as it was in Chinese. But it's chicken and it's spicy. They kept the flame burning to preserve the taste. Really yummy.

family update

We are now in the process of moving in to our new house. We just repainted the living room from dark yellow to limelight, summer heat and peach. I am very excited coz the house is going to be flowery. We are trying to make it look like an English living room... but with our limited budget, we can only do and buy things according to our budget limit. So we'll see how it looks like after we finish decorating the house.

Also, today, we went to a different church. We used to go to FGA (Full Gospel Assembly) - mother church in Old Klang road. But since last year, we've been talking about moving to their satellite church in Subang Jaya where it is nearer and smaller in size - I think just around 500. I know. It is not that small... but the church that we usually go to has more than 8000 members. So I would only be hanging around with moms who have kids of the same age as mine.

I know it took us a long time to decide to finally move in to a smaller church. The mother church has been really special for hubby as he grew up there. That church even supports him in everything he does. So felt quite attached to it. The church asking him to teach in a Bible Class last year had also delayed our moving out.

Glad to be moving in a new church and a new house at the same time. It's quite a transition for us, hey? But smaller church has a lot of advantages. You could get to know everyone. And me being a foreigner would benefit to having local friends. They could show you which shop is selling what... And perhaps if you are thinking of buying a life insurance they could tell you which one has the best value.

Of course, having internet makes life easier. Sometimes, you don't need to ask around. Just surf the net for local information and voila! Every information is available right at your doorstep.

Will have to pack some more things... so I need to get off my computer now and continue with my work. Cheers!

Ben 10 and Barbie

My kids now are looking out for other things to watch. Everytime I and husband are out buying DVD movies, my kids now choose their movies as well. Schenker would now look for Ben 10. Samantha would ask... is that for boys? And the kuya would say yes. Then she would look one for herself. One night, she saw a Barbie DVD. She said, look kuya, it's for girls. LOL. So I bought it for her. She was so excited because Barbie movies are so colorful. They use pastel colors and Samantha was just sooo thrilled to watch it.

Right now, I am glad that they can wait for each other's turn in using the TV and DVD player. Actually, right now, we have two TV's. But we're only using one. But we're planning to use the other TV after we move in to our new house. I was actually looking around for a DVD player to buy when Josiet told me she has a DVD player to give away. Quite timely. So she gave it to me. Thanks again, Josiet.

Now I'm on the lookout for tv stands. I might get one of those soon. We only have one tv stand at home and if we want to use the other tv (which will be placed upstairs), we need to get another tv stand..

She's So Thin!

She used to be so not so thin. Hehehe. But yesterday, I had a chance to see her again. And she has indeed lost some weight. It's really obvious. She has been blogging about her goal of losing weight. And she is just so disciplined. She has a work-out regime that works for her and she really spends time regularly just to exercise. She's very careful with what she eats too. She's just an inspiration.

For me, I have only been planning... and not doing it. I have always been thinking of checking out the best fat burner so I can probably use it rather than work hard. LOL. Anyways, with my rate of drinking coke like that... who doesn't need one of those?

But truly, Josiet, you're an inspiration.

Nando's

Yesterday, we went to Midvalley Megakidz to meet up with friends Steph and Josiet with their kids. It has been a long time since we didn't go to Megakidz. The kids had fun playing around. Will post pics later. I am actually just waiting for steph to post some pics. Her photos are a lot better than mine.

Anyways, we went to Nando's Restaurant right after Megakidz. The good thing with Nando's is that their sodas are refillable. And you know how much coke I drank? Three big glasses of coke! I just couldn't help it. I was thirsty and it felt so good feeling the ice-cold coke running down my throat. And yes, you bet that I would be seriously considering taking the best diet pills one can ever take. LOL.

Wow, it's our 30th edition for our yummy sunday... how time flies. This week's entry is a dish I got while we're on holiday in Shenzen, China. I didn't know the name because at the restaurant, nobody spoke English and the menu was in Chinese. So we just pointed at the photo of the dish we liked and they served it to us. Delish! Cheap too.

Assam Laksa

I just had an assam laksa for dinner tonight. We were in Summit Mall again. I went to a salon to have my hair trimmed. This was the first time that I had asam laksa. I usually have curry laksa. I felt very bloated after eating assam laksa. Actually it's not very fattening. But I like eating noodles so I ate a lot. Talk about dieting and all. Oh well, one can always buy Phenphedrine to counteract what we eat, right? LOL. But what is laksa anyway?

Laksa is a popular spicy noodle soup from Peranakan culture also known as Baba and Nyonya, which is a merger of Chinese and Malay elements found in Malaysia and Singapore. There are different kinds of laksa. There's this curry laksa, assam laksa, and sarawak laksa.

Assam laksa is a sour fish-based soup. Asam (or asam jawa) is the Malay word for tamarind, which is commonly used to give the stock its sour flavor. It is also common to use "asam keping" also known as "asam gelugor", dried slices of tamarind fruit, for added sourness. Modern Malay spelling is asam, though the spelling assam is still frequently used.

The main ingredients for assam laksa include shredded fish, normally kembung fish or mackerel, and finely sliced vegetables including cucumber, onions, red chillis, pineapple, lettuce, common mint, "daun kesum" (Vietnamese mint or laksa mint) and pink bunga kantan (ginger buds). Assam laksa is normally served with either thick rice noodles or thin rice noodles (vermicelli). And topped off with "petis udang" or "hae ko", a thick sweet prawn/shrimp paste.

Children's Seminar

I'm doing a children seminar again tomorrow. It's so timely that the kids are not around. Of course, I'd be happy if they went with me. It helps them a lot when it comes to exposure... and to see their mommy teaching. But sometimes, when they're around, teaching becomes more challenging. I've been doing this kids' seminar in Malaysia for 6 years now. I use the same program over and over again. No matter how many times I have done this, I still get that public speaking anxiety. Not sure why. I thought before that once you do it many times, you'd definitely overcome the fear of speaking in front of people. But I still get that anxiety. Maybe it's because everytime I do it, I want to make sure that everything goes smoothly. And sure, everytime, it goes on smoothly. But I still get nervy no matter what.
